European Audiovisual Observatory: FINANCES YOUR MEDIA PROJECT

Why am I posting this  for you?

Because this governmental entity actually has the money  to FINANCE your media endeavor; is this horrible financial clime- we need all the help we can get

your European

  • to create transparency in the European audiovisual sector
  • to provide information services for audiovisual experts

A Challenge for Europe

The audiovisual sector is one of the fastest growing areas of the European economy and a leading global market. The internationalisation and integration of what previously were mostly national media landscapes, boosted by rapid technical progress, mean that the audiovisual sector now stands out above other branches of the economy.

As well as huge potential, the dynamism, size and incredible diversity of the sector bring certain challenges for the players involved. One such challenge lies in people’s understanding of the audiovisual sector or of its component parts, over and above linguistic, cultural and national boundaries. Such an understanding depends on reliable, up-to-date information, the need for which has never been as great as it is today.

Transparency through Information

According to its Statute, “the aim of the European Audiovisual Observatory shall be to improve the transfer of information within the audiovisual industry, to promote a clearer view of the market and a greater transparency. In doing so, the Observatory shall pay particular attention to ensuring reliability, compatibility and comparability of information“.

The Observatory’s task is therefore clearly defined: to improve the transfer of and access to information. Achieving this means developing and providing information services in whichever formats audiovisual specialists need them most.

Fields of Activity and Responsibility

The Observatory has adopted a pragmatic definition of the audiovisual sector in which it works. Its principal areas of interest are:
Film,
Television,
Video/DVD and the expanding field of
New Media.

In these four sectors, the Observatory provides information services in the following fields:
- Market and Statistics,
- Law and
- Production and it’s Financing.

As far as its geographical scope is concerned, the Observatory monitors, records and analyses developments in its Member States.

In addition, if it seems sensible from a practical point of view, countries relevant to Europe are included.

Information Services and Target Groups

The various stages involved in providing information include the systematic collection, documentation and processing of information and data, together with its dissemination to users.

The services offered by the Observatory can be divided into five groups:
Print Publications,
- Online Publications,
Online Services,
Databases,
Conferences and Workshops.

In addition, requests received by the Observatory are passed on to the relevant contact persons.

The Observatory’s primary target groups are audiovisual experts, including decision-makers in the various national ministries responsible for media, the relevant press officers of related public administrative

bodies, journalists, scientists, researchers, lawyers and advisers.

REALLY take time to read the services- I hope that it will help make your deam come true..

Thank you so much from our friend fcarnold@hotmail.com and more Gateway stories .
This excellent post from our fellow Appsnewbie reader tells better  than I can why I am so apprehensive about
Gateway products.
Long on Cute – Long on price – Short on Quality .

I Do so hope that UBUNTU is the knight in shining armor..

I got the same Gateway at Office Depot for $ 499.00, what a nice price, as my Sony, which I loved, just couldn’t get to work even with recovery disks after 3 yrs use, the average length any of my pc lasted.

Well after reading the prior bad reports, I have my fingers crossed and hope it lasts 3 yrs min.

So far so good and love the big screen and color red.

On a lark, I searched the web and found a free platform called Ubuntu, downloaded the free platform and replaced my Windows Vista which caused so many problems, To my amazement, the new Ubuntu is a gift from the gods, so interesting and fun to use and proved the problem was MICROSOFT not my Sony that I thought I would have to toss out. Now two lovely pc to play with and one, a new African 3rd world system to enjoy. So far keeping my fingers crossed hoping I am one of the lucky ones with my Gateway.

We will see – keep us posted

GODS AUTOMATED GROCERY CART: NO CREDIT LIMIT

May an internet dating site across the world  grant you your hearts desire, or quite conversely-

may you go to Whole Foods- or Publix -or HEB Foods-or Lund’s Foods  and  be gently hit in the heels by a distracted cart driver  who will love you for the next 50 years. Through cellulite -diarrhea and baldness.

Never fear, oh befuddled and  timid shopper – either  personally – or professionally- remember that as you navigate your grocery cart of life  YOU have the total choice of what goes into your basket and  TADA_

GOD SAID THERE IS NO CREDIT LIMIT

May you love BEST the people who have loved you; treasure that love , it is more precious and rare than rubies.

May you not  blame yourself for the people who came into your life, who  either COULD not- or WOULD not love you well.THEY lost- really.

They MAY not have the capacity to love ANYONE.

Learn to judge -and assess carefully- the capacity others  have to love.Be VERY sure it is a fir for YOUR capacity -be it gargantuan or teeny.

Learn to  choose people whose emotional and intellectual capacities match YOURS.

Let the loss be theirs- if they cannot deeply love -Be sure not to let  their loss become yours.

It is not YOUR FAULT if a relationship ( you CHOSE- ahem)- with a person whose own pathology makes it impossible to treat you well, fails.

May you have the wisdom to discern the difference.

May you realize that for every flaw I overlook in you,  you overlook two faults of mine.

May you accept that that the price  of admission to the theatre of life- is  risk- and perhaps loss.

But how very sad to never even have participated.

May you remenber to love and accept beautiful- wonderful you- that is the GREATEST gift.

And I am so blessed to be given the opportunity to write this today, for each and every BEAUTIFUL one of you.

My very warmest wishes for your lives.

WHO USES  CELLPHONES and TEXTS: BY RACE and GENDER

If you are a mobile or tech marketer , this  is a really good breakdown report.

Who buys your stuff ?

Who WANTS to  buy your stuff ?

and WHY they buy your stuff..

DONT waste your marketing money on a market who can- or won’t buy .

“Extreme techies” tend to be male (63%), with a mean age of 31 and an average annual household

income of $67,000.

Also, nearly half (47%) are married, and 57% have children younger than 18 at home. While such a group holds down one end of the early adopter spectrum, a 2005 study by Women in Technology International, IDC and Intel found that women were becoming a greater part of the early adopter population, too:

“While women will not buy something for the sake

of being first, women are early adopters of technologies

that will clearly improve their lives. New technologies

such as home networking (57%) and WiFi (24%) are

favorites among women, allowing them to do more in

less time.”

Further, 53% of young women (Gen Y) in a 2008

study by Serena Software identified themselves as early adopters. As the researcher said, these are “the first to try new technologies, even before they become mainstream, ranking higher than any other profile.”

Hispanic and African-American consumers also boast early adopters.

Hispanics, in particular, adopt more technology and consume more media than the general population, according to a study by Yahoo,

Telemundo and Experian Simmons Research. Some of

their findings:

_ 90% of Hispanics have a cell phone (versus 79% of the general

population);

_ 66% of Hispanics use text messaging (versus 38% of the

general population);

_ 61% of Hispanics have taken photos on a cell phone (versus

79% of Hispanics of the general population); and

_ Two-thirds of Hispanics have been online for more than five years.

African-Americans are more likely to use the mobile

web, but have much lower than average broadband

adoption, according to a 2009 study of wireless internet

use by Pew Research, which found:

_ 48% of African-Americans have, at one time,

used their mobile devices to access the internet

for information, e-mailing or instant messaging

(compared to the national average of 32%);

_ 29% of African-Americans use the internet on

their handheld devices on an average day (compared

to national average of 19%); and

_ Compared to 2007, when 12% of African-

Americans used the internet on their mobile devices on an average day, use of mobile web is

up by 141%.

Pew compared the use of digital technology among

African-Americans to that of white consumers:

_ By a 59% to 45% margin, white Americans are

more likely to go online using a computer on a

typical day than African-Americans; and

_ When mobile devices are included in the mix, the

gap is reduced to half; 61% of whites go online

on the average day when mobile access is included,

while 54% of African-Americans do.

Across a range of digital activities—some online,

typically using a computer; others being non-voice

data activity on a mobile device—African-

Americans and whites, on average, perform the

same number of actions.

APPLE Co FOUNDER SOLD 10% of APPLE for $800: WHIMPER

Ronald Wayne, the “adult supervisor” entrusted to settle any disputes between youngsters Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, received 10% of the computer company he helped found.

Just a few weeks later, he sold that stake for $800, according to his memoir, “Adventures Of An Apple Founder.”

Wayne, who worked at Atari with Jobs and drew the original Apple symbol, also earned $1,500 for “giving up on any claim of ownership in Apple,” MacRumors reports.

Street value of that 10% stake today: $35 billion.

APPSNEWBIE DOES NOT TEXT AND DRIVE.

In a recent road trip from Florida to Minneapolis, friends asked why I did i not answer or speak on the phone as I drove; I said becajs esif I do  I will kill myself – or someone else.

There is NO WAY I can naviate around  an 18 wheeler truck  slamming on his brakes- right in front of me -

or

TRY  TO MISS HUGE pieces of thrown “tire rubber ” that I MUST avoid hitting  or take out my OWN tires or my vehicle’s front end-

OR  AVOID METAL grocery carts – YES – OMG—flying across an  oncoming lane at 70 MPH -

I will be dead – and  may very well take other innocents  with me.

I DO  NOT CHOOSE DEATH BY TEXT…I DO  NOT CHOOSE DEATH BY DISTRATED DRIVING

WHAT IS THE LAW in YOUR STATE??

We are grateful and humbled by the bravery of the people who agreed to be on camera for the documentary. We would have no story to tell without them.

One of the most exciting things for apps and developers I have seen in a long time…Cervin Ventures and Tie Angels must think so too.

WE SHALL SEE…

Social analytics firm Claritics, said it has launched a new analytics platform for games and apps for  Android powered mobile devices.

Claritics raised a $1.5 million round as it talked about helping social game and app developers analyze their data and reap more money from their efforts.

Now the company is extending that effort to mobile apps on Google’s mobile operating system.THE

GOOGLE no less.

Mountain View, California based Claritics calls its work “social intelligence.” Claritics has been testing it’s cloud-based analytics with various venues  that range from game companies to utilities and media companies. It’s all about getting enough data and organizing it so that it becomes “actionable.”

In other words, enough “stuff ” so you can figure out what to do with it next.  Claritics wants to cash in on the explosion  of the social web and it’s deep and wide data mine of buying/purchasing

(MONETZE MONETIZE BABY) and consuming choice  data and to make  automated processes. The service will be to let  developers to narrow their customer search reach, retain users, and launch revenue campaigns on the fly. The real-time data become useful not just for looking back but for predicting the future.

WHO AND WHERE WILL MONEY BE SPENT? TELL ME PUHLEEZE ?

The new mobile platform is self-service,allowing developers to figure out in real-time what is working well — or not — in their mobile games, for example.

Claritics  lets users delinieate their data based on device type, carrier, campaigns, location and other factors.

Claritics says it has made its sign-up process and usage  more intuitive to dramatically reduce the time it takes to get the analytics up and running. App makers can use the service to evaluate user engagement and the behavior of those who buy things in games.

WHO BUYS MY STUFF and PLAYS MY GAMES??

Rivals include Kontagent, Apsalar and Flurry.

Claritics has said its platform has been in private beta testing with more than 100 potential customers. The company was founded in 2010 and has around 10 to 15 employees.

Investors include Cervin Ventures and Tie Angels.
