MOBILE MARKETING: JA VOHL..DANKE..
Are you thinking mobile yet… if not you should be.
Consider these stats:
- There are 5.2 billion mobile subscribers globally (77% of the world’s population).
- In 2012, smartphone sales will overtake computers.
- By 2013, more people will access the Internet through their mobile than through a PC.
- By 2015, mobile broadband could be 3-4 times faster than fixed line broadband in many countries.
- 79 percent of U.S. consumers use a smartphone to help with their shopping.
- On average, people look at their phones 150 times per day.
With smartphones rapidly reaching critical mass in some markets, mobile is evolving from a “discovery” to a purchase tool for consumers.
At the Nielsen Consumer 360 conference in Frankfurt, Germany, strategies for driving an integrated mobile strategy were revealed.
Growth Potential in Germany is Big
With more than one mobile phone per person in Germany, it is a strong mobile market, but the potential for growth exists. German mobile consumers are connected and getting smarter. Nearly two out of every three (63%) mobile purchases in Germany are smartphones.
Today, 30 percent of Germans own a smartphone, compared with 45 percent in the U.K., 40 percent in the U.S., and 36 percent in Russia.
And with 83 percent of German smartphone users contract-billed by a carrier, higher monthly spending patterns follow: users spend an average of 1.5 more than feature phone users on their bills.
Over 65 percent of smartphone owners use email and half are active social network users.
Perhaps most compelling is the fact that more than half (58%) of mobile Internet usage occurs in the home, virtually changing the way people shop and opening up new opportunities for advertisers.
Fifty-six percent of Germans react when receiving mobile advertising on their phone and more than one in five purchased the item advertised. ( THIS WAS A BIG SURPRISE)..
“Mobile truly serves as the bridge between the online and the offline world,” explains David Gosen from Nielsen. “Mobile is empowering consumers to interact with stores, brands, friends and family in a way they never have done so before.”
More than 250 million active users currently access Facebook through their mobile devices and they are twice as active as non-mobile users.
In Germany, nearly 50 percent of all smartphone users have used a social networking app in the last 30 days.
A mobile and social media strategy must go hand-in-hand (having a Facebook page is not enough). And proximity is influence. Location-based mobile alerts are impacting decisions to buy in a particular store.
Creating a successful mobile strategy requires 4Cs:
- Content – be engaging.
- Conversation – create two-way dialogue
- Community – connect through advocacy programs
- Continuity – think long-term and on-going
Mobile is a big part of your customers lives – be a part of it. Build deep and more engaging personal dialogs – be where they are. Creativity and innovation differentiates your brand at every stage of their journey. Understand the real insight and behaviors of your mobile consumers to drive success.
SO THERE… ARE YOU MOBILE YET ?

I got the same Gateway at Office Depot for $ 499.00, what a nice price, as my Sony, which I loved, just couldn’t get to work even with recovery disks after 3 yrs use, the average length any of my pc lasted.
Well after reading the prior bad reports, I have my fingers crossed and hope it lasts 3 yrs min.
So far so good and love the big screen and color red.
On a lark, I searched the web and found a free platform called Ubuntu, downloaded the free platform and replaced my Windows Vista which caused so many problems, To my amazement, the new Ubuntu is a gift from the gods, so interesting and fun to use and proved the problem was MICROSOFT not my Sony that I thought I would have to toss out. Now two lovely pc to play with and one, a new African 3rd world system to enjoy. So far keeping my fingers crossed hoping I am one of the lucky ones with my Gateway.

May you love BEST the people who have loved you; treasure that love , it is more precious and rare than rubies.
May you not blame yourself for the people who came into your life, who either COULD not- or WOULD not love you well.THEY lost- really.
They MAY not have the capacity to love ANYONE.
Learn to judge -and assess carefully- the capacity others have to love.Be VERY sure it is a fir for YOUR capacity -be it gargantuan or teeny.
Learn to choose people whose emotional and intellectual capacities match YOURS.
Let the loss be theirs- if they cannot deeply love -Be sure not to let their loss become yours.
It is not YOUR FAULT if a relationship ( you CHOSE- ahem)- with a person whose own pathology makes it impossible to treat you well, fails.
May you have the wisdom to discern the difference.
May you realize that for every flaw I overlook in you, you overlook two faults of mine.
May you accept that that the price of admission to the theatre of life- is risk- and perhaps loss.
But how very sad to never even have participated.
May you remenber to love and accept beautiful- wonderful you- that is the GREATEST gift.
And I am so blessed to be given the opportunity to write this today, for each and every BEAUTIFUL one of you.
My very warmest wishes for your lives.

WHO USES CELLPHONES and TEXTS: BY RACE and GENDER
If you are a mobile or tech marketer , this is a really good breakdown report.

“Extreme techies” tend to be male (63%), with a mean age of 31 and an average annual household
income of $67,000.
Also, nearly half (47%) are married, and 57% have children younger than 18 at home. While such a group holds down one end of the early adopter spectrum, a 2005 study by Women in Technology International, IDC and Intel found that women were becoming a greater part of the early adopter population, too:
“While women will not buy something for the sake
of being first, women are early adopters of technologies
that will clearly improve their lives. New technologies
such as home networking (57%) and WiFi (24%) are
favorites among women, allowing them to do more in
less time.”
Further, 53% of young women (Gen Y) in a 2008
study by Serena Software identified themselves as early adopters. As the researcher said, these are “the first to try new technologies, even before they become mainstream, ranking higher than any other profile.”
Hispanic and African-American consumers also boast early adopters.
Hispanics, in particular, adopt more technology and consume more media than the general population, according to a study by Yahoo,
Telemundo and Experian Simmons Research. Some of
their findings:
_ 90% of Hispanics have a cell phone (versus 79% of the general
population);
_ 66% of Hispanics use text messaging (versus 38% of the
general population);
_ 61% of Hispanics have taken photos on a cell phone (versus
79% of Hispanics of the general population); and
_ Two-thirds of Hispanics have been online for more than five years.
African-Americans are more likely to use the mobile
web, but have much lower than average broadband
adoption, according to a 2009 study of wireless internet
use by Pew Research, which found:
_ 48% of African-Americans have, at one time,
used their mobile devices to access the internet
for information, e-mailing or instant messaging
(compared to the national average of 32%);
_ 29% of African-Americans use the internet on
their handheld devices on an average day (compared
to national average of 19%); and
_ Compared to 2007, when 12% of African-
Americans used the internet on their mobile devices on an average day, use of mobile web is
up by 141%.
Pew compared the use of digital technology among
African-Americans to that of white consumers:
_ By a 59% to 45% margin, white Americans are
more likely to go online using a computer on a
typical day than African-Americans; and
_ When mobile devices are included in the mix, the
gap is reduced to half; 61% of whites go online
on the average day when mobile access is included,
while 54% of African-Americans do.
Across a range of digital activities—some online,
typically using a computer; others being non-voice
data activity on a mobile device—African-
Americans and whites, on average, perform the
same number of actions.

Driving While Texting (DWT): FOR THOSE YOU LOVE: DON’T
Please paste this in your browser.
http://youtu.be/505k3YCc7Bw
Driving While Texting (DWT)
DWT is the new Drunk Driver of the American highways.
Researchers in one study demonstrated that driving while texting was twice as dangerous as driving while talking on the phone, a practice which has been shown to be as dangerous as driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08.
This is the general threshold for intoxicated driving.
A separate report found that texting and driving is MORE dangerous than drunken driving. It has also been shown that texting is more dangerous than listening, dialing, talking or reaching for a device.
Why IS DWT Dangerous?
Using a communication device, for any purpose, can be distracting and dangerous.
According to scientists, the brain has a very difficult time processing different information streams. As a result, drivers who are concentrating on eating, dealing with children or changing the radio station — let alone typing a message or having a heated argument with their spouse — have difficulty focusing on the task at hand and reacting to road conditions.
Though driving while texting is a problem among most age groups, it is a bigger problem among teens. As a result, many states prohibit minors from using cell phones for any purpose while driving.
In the United States Congress, legislation has been proposed that would prohibit drivers nationwide, of all ages, from sending emails or text messages while driving.
Driver distraction is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle accidents. One of the fastest growing and most problematic of driver distractions is text messaging.
Numerous studies in recent years have linked auto accidents to text messaging and cell phone use. In response, in January of 2009 the National Safety Council urged state and federal lawmakers to ban the use of cell phones and other text-messaging devices while driving.
Since then, 14 states plus the District of Columbia have banned texting while driving, and several U.S. senators have united behind a bill that would ban driving while texting (DWT) nationwide.
Texting while driving is extremely dangerous, as well as negligent.
