WOW and more WOW…CROATIAN / BALKAN INTERNET MARKET
Does www.yandex.ru- the RUSSIAN INTERNET GIANT EVER have a potential market or what ?
There are over 10.5 million Internet users in the Balkans/the former Yugoslavia, which makes up 51.7 percent of the region’s population.
Slovenia has the highest Internet service penetration (63.29 percent), while Bosnia and Herzegovina has the lowest (51.76 percent of Internet users).
It is interesting that over a half of the Serbian and Croatian population is on the
…As for the Internet users, this does not even users of mobile internet.
Facebook is the most popular destination: over 70 percent of Internet users have a Facebook account in Serbia, and 63 percent in Croatia:
The average time spent on Facebok is 25 minutes (both for Serbia and Croatia), and the average user in Serbia checks his/her Facebook account 16 times a day, while in Croatia it is 13 times a day.
The increasing number of Facebook users can be explained by non-residents of Serbia and Croatia using this social network during their travels.
The online social dynamics and the activities on Facebook do not differ much in other Balkan countries.
Young adults spend the most of their time on Facebook, communicating with their friends (61 percent), “like”-ing their statuses (66 percent), sharing content and information (56 percent), writing private messages (47 percent), and playing games (22.4 percent).
Statistical and educational institutions in each of the Balkan countries could generate and use the data on the relevant online activities to detect and focus on their critical users, to adjust their policies and action plans based on the data.
The internet is SO universal-social media has truly joined us all..

DoCoMo Does JV with Baidu in China
DoCoMo is reported to take a 20% JV position, estimated value of $24M, with search giant Baidu in China to distribute mobile content:
Japanese telecom operator NTT DoCoMo Inc., said Friday it has agreed with Chinese Internet search operator,
Baidu Inc. to set up a joint venture in China to distribute games and other mobile phone content in the mainland in a move that could help them cash in on the expected growth of smartphone users.
Baidu, China’s largest online search engine, will hold 80% of the joint venture, while DoCoMo, Japan’s largest mobile carrier, will hold 20%.
DoCoMo said its investment will amount to about Y2 billion (US$24.6 million). Baidu didn’t disclose financial details but based on the break down of the stake ownership, its investment would amount to about Y8 billion. WOW
Baidu spokesman Kaiser Kuo confirmed the plans for a joint venture, but declined to comment on what type of products the joint venture might produce, saying the company doesn’t discuss unreleased products.
DoCoMo will provide Baidu with its know-how in building content distribution systems for mobile handsets, it said. For DoCoMo, the partnership is part of efforts to increase its overseas presence. Seeking long-term growth, DoCoMo has been looking for more opportunities to expand overseas

HACKING A PRINTER: THE HOW TO GUIDE:
Hackers are always looking for back doors, no matter if we’re talking about software glitches or weak security measures set up by the computer/network administrator.
And if there’s the vulnerability in your printer configuration, a determined hacker can exploit that, too.
Be ware of “cross site printing”: a new type of attack that may be launched by some hackers and cyber crooks , who intend to control a network printer and print whatever they want.
The entire attack is based on a malicious JavaScript published on a website involved in the exploit.
The attacker has to lure people on their dangerous page, so avoiding visiting such websites may be a solution. IF you are at all suspicious.
By using only JavaScript, an Internet web site can remotely print to an internal network based printer by doing an HTTP Post.
The web site initiating the print request can print full text, enter PostScript commands allowing the page to be formatted, and in some cases send faxes. For the attack to succeed the user needs to visit a web site that contains this JavaScript
What’s interesting, is that this kind of attack is able to do more damage than printing pages using your network printer. The ‘cross site printing’ can also be used to send fax messages, if such devices are available, and even worse – to download new firmware.
Besides printing annoying messages, the malicious Web site is seen as capable of discharging potentially more dangerous commands, sending fax messages, for instance, if the device is available, formatting a printer’s hard drive, or downloading firmware.
In case you’re afraid that you network may get compromised by such attackers, the solution is simple: don’t leave your network printer unprotected – a hard-to-guess password should be enough to keep you away from hackers. Moreover, configuring the printer to accept commands from a ‘centralized print server’ would be very useful.
Stay safe on the cyber highway.

ORKUT WHO? ASK GOOGLE, BRAZIL and ESTONIA.
It was tremendously popular until Facebook .
As a matter of fact, ever since Facebook became popular, a lot of people have left Orkut for Facebook and many have stopped using Orkut altogether
While Orkut has been trying hard to reclaim its popular stature and be on par with Facebook, the challenge seems to get tougher by the day, as more and more interesting and new features are rolled out for Facebook.
ONE out of EVERY 8 INTERNET CLICKS IS TO FACEBOOK
One reason for the Facebook success is the availability of a dedicated app on a plethora of smartphones – from Blackberry to Android to the ever-so-popular Apple iPhone.
However- as of April 2010, 48.0% of Orkut’s users are from Brazil, followed by India with 39.2% and United States with 2.2%.[4]
Recently though, due to advent of other social networking sites, the usage of Orkut has decreased.[citation needed]
Originally hosted in California, in August 2008 Google announced that Orkut would be fully managed and operated in Brazil, by Google Brazil, in the city of Belo Horizonte.
This was decided due to the large Brazilian user base and growth of legal issues.][6][7][8]
As of July 2011, Alexa traffic ranked orkut.com 99th and orkut.com.br 94th in the world; the website currently has more than 100 million active users worldwide.
Anyone 18 years old or older can join Orkut.[1][2][9]
Orkut also has a simplified site for mobile users. “m.Orkut.com”.
In 2008, a new feature was introduced for users having slow internet connections to access Orkut using the “View Orkut in lighter version” setting.
Orkut has also found great popularity in Estonia as witnessed by a survey conducted by the independent research center GfK Custom Research Baltic which showed how Orkut is the most used social network platform in that country.[10]

Google’s share of the Chinese search market may be getting smaller, but Chinese search giant Baidu faces two other search rivals as well. Alibaba Group’s e-commerce search engine Etao.com, and Sina Corp.’s microblogging service Weibo.com, also are making a strong presence , according to the Chinese advertising company Charm Communications Inc.
E-commerce is a key driver in the growth of online ad spending, and Etao, which started out as a product search engine for listings on Alibaba Group’s e-commerce site Taobao, recently started including products from other websites in its search results.
This presented a challenge for Baidu, said Zhou Wei, Charm’s chief financial officer, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.
Then there is Weibo, a Twitter-like microblogging service Sina hopes to make into a Facebook-like social network,
Weibo isn’t yet selling many advertisements on its website, but Charm’s clients are eager to tap the site’s influential membership, he said.Charm is a full-service agency that purchases advertisements on television and online, including on Baidu, and which counts Sina Weibo as a client.
Baidu, which also faces growing competition from other Chinese search providers like Sohu’s Sogou and Tencent’s Soso, had a 75.9% share of China’s search market revenue in the second quarter, according to a report released by research firm Analysys International on Friday.
Google, Baidu’s chief competitor, saw its share of the 4.32 billion yuan ($668.4 million) market drop slightly to 18.9% while Sogou’s share rose 0.9 percentage points to 2.4%.
Etao and Weibo don’t directly compete with Baidu in web searches. But as online ad spending grows, Chinese Internet companies are increasingly branching out into one anothers’ domains competing for users and ad dollars.
Baidu has been trying to up its game in both e-commerce and social networking.
Last year, the company launched a retail website with Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten, called Lekutian, and in June it announced an investment in travel deals website Qunar. It also started a microblogging service called Baidu Shuoba, or Baidu Talk, which didn’t gain much traction and is currently suspended.
Baidu’s investment in companies like Qunar show that the search giant “recognizes” the challenges from other companies. Baidu is still the dominant form of digital advertising.
Spending on digital marketing in China is growing by 30% to 40% a year, Mr. Zhou said, but spending on websites like Baidu on keyword ads — which he said makes up 40% to 50% of all digital advertising in China – is growing by 40% to 50% per year.
WOW – Cheers Baidu- that is what Appsnewbie calls monetizing.
CTR MONETIZING EXPLAINED for NEWBIES
No Tirekickers Please
Clickthrough rate, or CTR, is a way of measuring the success of an online advertising campaign on your website or blog.
A CTR is obtained by this FORMULA:
Dividing the “number of users who clicked on an ad” on a web page by the “number of times the ad was delivered” (impressions). That is your Click through rate.
For example, if a banner ad was delivered 100 times (impressions delivered) and 1 person clicked on it (clicks recorded), then the resulting CTR would be 1 percent. ( Sigh)
Banner ad click-through rates have fallen on disfavor a bit over time. When they first started, it was not uncommon to have rates above five percent.
They have fallen and now average closer to 0.2 or 0.3 percent.[1]
In most cases, a 2% click-through rate would be considered very successful, though the exact number is hotly debated and could vary. The average click-through rate of 3% in the 1990s, declined to 0.28% by 2003.[2]
Since advertisers pay more for a high click-through rate, getting many click-throughs with few purchases, is undesirable to advertisers. (Just lookers- no buyers. These are a lot of tire kickers, basically.)
Celebrity /Personalized ads, unusual formats, and more obtrusive ads typically have higher click-through rates than standard banner ads, however overly intrusive ads are often avoided by viewers.
CTR is most commonly defined as “number of clicks” divided by “number of impressions” and generally not in terms of the “number of persons” who clicked divided by the “number of impressions”. This is an important distinction.
As a person clicks a single advertisement multiple times, the CTR increases using the former definition, whereas the CTR doesn’t change using the latter definition.
Still maybe just a tire kicker.
Monetize and – Monetize those Clicks your site receives
is a vistor to your site – measure them accurately-
good and bad..

WHAT is YOUR COMPUTERS MTBF?
Explained. You actually DO need this.
Failure rate: What is yours?
The failure rate of a system usually depends on time, with the rate varying over the life cycle of the system.
For example, an automobile’s failure rate in its fifth year of service may be many times greater than its failure rate during its first year of service.
( EXPECT is the operative word- LOL)
One does not EXPECTto replace an exhaust pipe, overhaul the brakes, or have major transmission problems in a new vehicle. Yes- BUT…
In practice, the mean time between failures (MTBF, 1/λ) is often used instead of the failure rate. This is valid if the failure rate is constant (general agreement in some reliability standards (Military and Aerospace) – part of the flat region of the Reliability bathtub curve , also called the “useful life period”.
The MTBF is an important system parameter in systems where failure rate needs to be managed, in particular for safety systems.
The MTBF appears frequently in the engineering design requirements, and governs frequency of required system maintenance and inspections.
In special processes called renewal processes, where the time to recover from failure can be neglected and the likelihood of failure remains constant with respect to time, the failure rate is simply the multiplicative inverse of the MTBF (1/λ).
A similar ratio used in the transport industries, especially in railways and trucking is ‘mean distance between failures’, a variation which attempts to correlate actual loaded distances to similar reliability needs and practices.
Failure rates are REALLY important factors in the computer industry.>
Just ask Gateway.
Example of : How often your Sweet little Computer MIGHT Crash and Burn…
Suppose it is desired to estimate the failure rate of a certain component. A test can be performed to estimate its failure rate. Ten identical components are each tested until they either fail or reach 1000 hours, at which time the test is terminated for that component. (The level of statistical confidence is not considered in this example.) The results are as follows:
Estimated failure rate is
or 799.8 failures for every million hours of operation
NOW YOU KNOW..

How to Be a Google Hacker
Google serves almost 80 percent of all search queries on the Internet, proving itself as the most popular search engine.
To my amazement , Google makes it possible to reach not only the publicly available information resources, but also gives access to some of the most confidential information that should never have been revealed. In my humble opinion.
I AM SHOCKED…Read on
HERE WE ARE: Some of the hacks that can be accomplished using Google.
1. Hacking Security Cameras
There exists many security cameras used for monitoring places like parking lots, college campus, road traffic etc. which can be hacked using Google so that you can view the images captured by those cameras in real time.
All you have to do is use the following search query in Google.
Type in Google search box exactly as follows and hit enter
inurl:”viewerframe?mode=motion”
Click on any of the search results (Top 5 recommended) and you will gain access to the live camera which has full controls. You now have access to the Live cameras which work in real-time. You can also move the cameras in all the four directions, perform actions such as zoom in and zoom out. This camera has really a less refresh rate. But there are other search queries through which you can gain access to other cameras which have faster refresh rates. So to access them just use the following search query.
intitle:”Live View / – AXIS”
Click on any of the search results to access a different set of live cameras. Thus you have hacked Security Cameras using Google.
2. Hacking Personal and Confidential Documents
Using Google it is possible to gain access to an email file containing the CVs/ resumes of hundreds of people which were created when applying for their jobs. ( WOW)
The documents containing their Address, Phone, DOB, Education, Work experience etc. can be found just in seconds.
intitle:”curriculum vitae” “phone * * *” “address *” “e-mail”
You can gain access to a list of .xls (excel documents) which contain contact details including email addresses of large group of people. To do so type the following search query and hit enter.
filetype:xls inurl:”email.xls”
Also it’s possible to gain access to documents potentially containing information on bank accounts, financial summaries and credit card numbers using the following search query
intitle:index.of finances.xls
3. Hacking Google to Get Free Stuff
Ever wondered how to hack Google for free music or ebooks ?
Here is a way to do that.
To download free music just enter the following query on google search box and hit enter.
“?intitle:index.of?mp3 eminem“
Now you’ll gain access to the whole index of eminem album where in you can download the songs of your choice.
Instead of eminem you can subtitute the name of your favorite album.
To search for the ebooks all you have to do is replace “eminem” with your favorite book name.
Also replace “mp3″ with “pdf” or “zip” or “rar”.
4. Using Google, and some finely crafted searches we can find a lot of interesting information.
For Example we can find:
Credit Card Numbers
Passwords
Software / MP3′s
This is just a sample of interesting searches that we can send to google to obtain info that some people might not want us to have.
Try a few of these searches:
intitle:”Index of” passwords modified
allinurl:authuserfile.txt
“access denied for user” “using password”
“A syntax error has occurred” filetype:ihtml
allinurl: admin mdb
“ORA-00921: unexpected end of SQL command”
inurl:passlist.txt
“Index of /backup”
“Chatologica MetaSearch” “stack tracking:”
Amex Numbers: 300000000000000..399999999999999
MC Numbers: 5178000000000000..5178999999999999
visa 4356000000000000..4356999999999999
“parent directory ” /appz/ -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
“parent directory ” DVDRip -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
“parent directory “Xvid -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
“parent directory ” Gamez -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
“parent directory ” MP3 -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
“parent directory ” Name of Singer or album -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
Notice that I am only changing the word after the parent directory, change it to what you want and you will get a lot of stuff.
METHOD 2.
Put this string in google search:
?intitle:index.of? mp3
You only need add the name of the song/artist/singer.
Example: ?intitle:index.of? mp3 jackson
METHOD 3.
Put this string in google search:
inurl:microsoft filetype:iso
You can change the string to watever you want, ex. microsoft to adobe, iso to zip etc…
“# -FrontPage-” inurl:service.pwd
Frontpage passwords.. very nice clean search results listing !!
“AutoCreate=TRUE password=”
This searches the password for “Website Access Analyzer”, a Japanese software that creates webstatistics. For those who can read Japanese, check out the author’s site at: coara.or.jp/~passy/ [or.jp]
“http://:@www” domainname
This is a query to get inline passwords from search engines (not just Google), you must type in the query followed with the the domain name without the .com or .net
“http://:@www” bangbus or “http://:*@www”bangbus
Another way is by just typing
“http://bob:bob@www”
allinurl: admin mdb
Not all of these pages are administrator’s access databases containing usernames, passwords and other sensitive information, but many are!
allinurl:authuserfile.txt
DCForum’s password file. This file gives a list of (crackable) passwords, usernames and email addresses for DCForum and for DCShop (a shopping cart program(!!!). Some lists are bigger than others, all are fun, and all belong to googledorks. =)
intitle:”Index of” config.php
This search brings up sites with “config.php” files.
To skip the technical discussion, this configuration file contains both a username and a password for an SQL database. Most sites with forums run a PHP message base.
This file gives you the keys to that forum, including FULL ADMIN access to the database.
Let’s pretend you need a serial number for windows xp pro.
In the google search bar type in just like this – “Windows XP Professional” 94FBR
The key is the 94FBR code.
It was included with many MS Office registration codes, so this will help you dramatically reduce the amount of ‘fake’ porn sites that trick you.
or if you want to find the serial for winzip 8.1 – “Winzip 8.1″ 94FBR
